Getting Started

Quick install

Install the desktop app on macOS or Windows in a few minutes.

Go from download to your first extracted tags in about three minutes.

1. Install the app (about 1 minute)

  1. 1Open the Download page and choose your platform: a .dmg for macOS or an .exe installer for Windows.
  2. 2macOS: open the .dmg and drag mysnipbox into your Applications folder. Windows: run the installer and follow the prompts.
  3. 3Launch mysnipbox.

2. Activate your license (30 seconds)

  1. 1Enter the license key from your purchase email in Settings, or in the unlock window that appears when you try a locked action.
  2. 2Until a license is registered, the core actions (analyzing images, generating, copying prompts and syncing) stay locked. You can still open the rest of the app and look around.

3. Connect an AI provider (1 minute)

  1. 1Open Settings and choose a provider. We recommend Google Gemini: it's fast and has a free tier.
  2. 2Create an API key and paste it in. The AI providers guide walks through each provider step by step.
  3. 3Prefer to keep everything on your machine? Choose Ollama instead. See Local models for the hardware you'll need.

4. Decompose your first image (1 minute)

  1. 1Drag an image into the mysnipbox window, or use the add-image button.
  2. 2Wait a few seconds while the image is analyzed. It appears in your Vault when it's done.
  3. 3Open the image to see its tags, grouped into six categories.
  4. 4Click the tags you like to drop them into the Prompt Basket, then press Copy to get a prompt you can paste into your image generator.
